Drink More Water
Stay hydrated by ensuring you are drinking enough water. During the winter months this can be a bit more challenging so opt for hot water with a little lemon to stay hydrated and warm!
Avoid Touching Your Face
We touch our faces a lot. More than most of us realize. Begin to be cognizant about how often you are touching your face and try to limit it. Touching your face increases your risk of directly allowing unwanted germs to enter the body through the mouth, nose, and/or eyes.
Exercise
Get your body moving regularly. According to the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, adults should aim for 150 minutes of physical exercise each week. Get creative and do something that you enjoy to get you moving. Go for a walk, take a hike, dance, the possibilities are endless!
Sleep
Make sleep a priority as this is necessary for optimal health. Be sure you are getting the recommended 7-9 hours of sleep daily.
Vitamin D Supplement
Sunshine can be scarce during Minnesota winters so do your body a favor and begin to take a vitamin D supplement.
No Tobacco
Whether you are a smoker or use smokeless tobacco products, stop. The research is endless on the fatal effects these products can have. Quit today.
Limit Alcohol
If you do drink alcohol, do so in moderation. Daily women should have no more than one drink and men should have no more than two drinks.
Keep Your Smile Happy
Remember your oral health is a big part of your overall health. Brush and floss daily.
Staying Healthy
The easiest way to avoid common illnesses is to focus on your health daily. Remember it is the daily small things that add up to big rewards. Keep yourself healthy and if you do fall ill remember to contact your physician if needed.
