Veneers
What are Dental Veneers?
Dental veneers can instantly transform your smile. Veneers are thin porcelain shells applied to your teeth to cover the surface. They can be used to:
- Reshape small or peg-shaped teeth
- Cover mild to moderate discoloration
- Correct minor misalignments
- Change the shape or length of teeth
- Cover deep stains
- Cover worn or chipped teeth
- Close spacing between teeth
Best of all, they’re minimally invasive, and a good alternative in some cases to traditional crowns or braces

How Veneers Work
Dental veneers simply cover the front surface of the teeth. This means that the tooth will remain in it’s natural state under the veneer. Veneers will not straighten or permanently correct dental issues. Veneers serve a cosmetic role in giving the appearance of a beautiful smile.
The Veneer Process
- Initial consultation to determine if veneers are the best option.
- If your dentist determines veneers are the best choice, you will then come back for a visit to reshape the tooth surface in order to bond the veneer.
- An impression will be taken of your tooth/teeth to make the veneer.
- Temporary veneers may be applied while your custom made veneers are being created.
- The dentist will then apply the veneer using a bonding process. During this time the dentist will ensure proper fit.
- Additionally, the tooth’s surface will be cleaned, polished and etched to ensure proper bonding.
- The veneer will be bonded using a light activated cement. Once bonded excess cement will be removed.
- A follow up visit may be scheduled to determine fit of the veneer after it’s applied
