We are in the midst of the COVID-19 epidemic and we want to discuss how the CDC and other experts are recommending to help stop the spread of the disease and keep you and your family safe.
Stay Home
With Minnesota’s stay at home order now in place, we cannot stress it enough to stay home. Exceptions, of course, are for employees deemed essential and/or critical that need to go to work. However, for the majority of us, we need to just stay home, only leaving for essential things like picking up medicine, groceries, going to the doctor if necessary, etc. If it is not essential to stay put.
Social Distancing
If you must leave your home be sure you are following social distancing protocol. This means staying 6 feet or more away from other individuals.
Wash Your Hands
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water. You should scrub thoroughly between fingers and under nails for at least 20 seconds.
Hand Sanitizer
If soap and water are not readily available and your hands are not visibly soiled, aim to use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Clean and Disinfect Commonly Touched Items
Make an effort to clean and disinfect commonly touched items frequently. Commonly touched items include, but are not limited to; doorknobs, handles, remotes, phones, counter surfaces, etc.
Leave Your Shoes Out of the Home
If possible, leave your shoes outside of the home. Research has been released that the virus may live on the bottom of shoes for up to 5 days.
Going to Public Places During Non-Peak Hours
We understand that grocery shopping and other errands are essential. That being said, avoid going to these necessary public places during peak hours if possible and if the store you are entering looks busy, avoid going in.
Do Not Gather
As tempting as it may be to invite loved ones over to be together, please don’t. It is advised that gatherings be no more than 5 persons, but if you can avoid them all together please do so. The exception, of course, being those that live together – this would be considered an exception.
Playgrounds are off Limits
While you still can get outside, playgrounds are now closing and if they are not closed should be avoided. Keep your children safe as the virus can live on these hard surfaces, like playground equipment, for days.
