Planning a Safe Thanksgiving

If You Are Sick, Stay Home

If you are experiencing symptoms or simply do not feel well stay home. Plan your celebration for when you are symptom-free.

Wash Your Hands

Like every day, it is incredibly important to thoroughly and regularly wash your hands. Remember to scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds, use clean warm water to rinse them, dry them with a clean towel, and use the towel to turn off the faucet. When running water is not available use hand sanitizer.

Mask Up

Remember to wear a mask for indoor gatherings in particular. Aim to remove the mask only while you are eating and drinking. Wearing a mask can also help you avoid touching your face, mouth, and nose.

Keep it Small

Do your best to plan for small gatherings this year aiming for 10 or fewer people for indoor gatherings and 25 or less for outdoor gatherings. If possible, plan for gatherings that only include people who live in the same house.

Distance

Maintain social distancing guidelines of staying 6 feet apart from individuals who do not live in the same household.

Go Virtual

Do a virtual Thanksgiving dinner which will allow loved ones who are at risk to stay in the comfort of their own homes while virtually celebrating as a family. Also, plan for online shopping this year – skipping the crowded in-person stores.

Accepting Things Might Look Different This Thanksgiving

Do you best to plan and accept that no matter what things might look and feel a little different this year during the holidays. Stay positive and aim to make the best of it while focusing on keeping your loved ones safe. Happy Thanksgiving!
